Living Greener

Here are some of our household's favorite recipes and tricks for cleaning:

1) For regular daily cleaning of windows, floors and counters we use an equal mixture of vinegar and water.

2) For regular daily cleaning of bathtubs, sinks and toilets, a sprinkling of baking soda works great.

3) A great drain cleaner is 1/2 cup baking soda followed by 1 cup vinegar. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse with very hot water.

4) A fume free oven cleaner is mix up 1 cup of baking soda and add just enough water to get it to paste consistency. Apply to dirty spots in oven and let stand until dry. Wipe off using a wet washcloth. If your oven is really dirty, some scrubbing may be required.

Good recipe for "off duty" deodorant. Fill a pump spray bottle (about 4-6 oz) with witch hazel to half. Add distilled or boiled water to near the top. Add six drops essential oil and shake shake shake. There that's it. I used ylang ylang as it's one of my all time favorites. A small bottle of essential oil will last a very long time and witch hazel is cheap. And your poor arm pits will be free of waxy sticks.
